PBIS Corner

Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports has been implemented in all Waterloo Community Schools. Since its emergence in the mid-1980s, PBIS has developed rapidly as a multifaceted approach for addressing behavior concerns in schools. Parents can use the PBIS techniques at home to help children understand boundaries and rules.

Here are some simple tips for parents:

  • ask your child what the school wide expectations are at their school,
  • try to incorporate similar language and expectations in the home environment and
  • catch your child doing the “right” thing and tell them you noticed!

If you would like further information about PBIS in your child’s school please contact the principal and check out the newsletter links below.

The District contact for PBIS is Mindy Fisher and she can be reached by phone at 319/433-2085 or via e-mail at fisherm@waterloo.k12.ia.us
