Welcome to Central Print Services of the Waterloo Community Schools
You are probably here at our website wanting more information so that you can confidently submit a print request. One of the first things to consider, is selecting your paper. However, there are some things you need to know before selecting your paper. One of the most confusing issues is paper weight and thickness. This may help:
- 20# paper is the lightest, thinnest and most common for general purposes. It is available in white and various simple colors. See the paper selecting link for the colors we carry in the shop.
- 24/60# paper is still thin although a shade thicker than the 20#. Some of our bright colors are only available in this weight. See the paper selecting link for the colors we carry in the shop.
- 90# Index paper is our next weight. This is where it is confusing. You would expect the higher the number...the thicker/heavier. This is not the case. See below for our heaviest/thickest paper. 90# paper is noticably thicker than 24/60# and is sometimes used for booklet covers or for things that are to be cut out by students. See the paper selecting link for the colors we carry in the shop.
- 65# Cover is the heaviest/thickest paper we carry. Even though the number goes down, it is noticably thicker than 90# index paper. See the paper selecting link for the colors we carry in the shop.
