IDM

IDM (Instructional Decision Making) is a data-driven process teachers at Central are using to monitor student progress and make decisions about providing supplemental or intensive support to students to achieve mastery of key objectives. In Reading and Math classes, teachers will use common formative assessments (CFAs) to pretest students and as a way to measure and assure that students are learning the key skills and concepts of each segment of instruction before moving on.  There are three tiers of instruction:

1) Tier 1 – classroom based instruction;
2) Tier 2 – supplemental instruction for students who are not catching on during regular classroom instruction;
3) Tier 3 – intensive instruction for students who need more individualized attention.

Tier 1 takes place every day and in every classroom. Tier 2and 3 may occur during a student’s skills period or before/after school and may involve small groups and/or working with a different teacher.  Parents are notified in advance that their child will be involved in instruction that will take place outside f the regular school day. When students successfully complete the post-CFA for a given segment of instruction they are done with Tier 2/3.

Kim Latusick coordinates the afterschool portion of IDM with the assistance of Denise Rhodes. Teachers include: Tammy Danger, Carman Williams, Micki Hartwig, Ryan Stone, Paula Thome, Jon Dennis, and Ray Harris.
