Coming Soon – THE GLOBE/THE FLASH

wcs_CampaignTheme_Rnd4An exciting new e-newsletter will be coming soon called THE GLOBE”, replacing THE FLASH.This new format compliments the Global thinking Campaign and will feature more important District items. Stay tuned!

“A Draper,”/Global Thinking in Action–STEM Labs

Draper art workwcs_CampaignTheme_Rnd4Thank you for all of your great “Draper” submissions this year!  The Draper’s are highlights of Global Thinking going on every day in our schools.  We are going to transition our “Drapers” into Global Thinking in Action examples to accompany our messaging for the District.  We all have a common goal, student achievement, and our Global Thinking offers our students with Limitless Choices, which in turn promotes success.

Please continue to send your Global Thinking in Action examples so we can kick off this idea for the rest of the year.

Here is a good example of Global Thinking in Action which spans all of our middle schools focusing on the new STEM Labs.

Out of this submission, we were able to share the news on our social media outlets including: YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, and Google Picasa.

Global Thinking in Action submissions can be covered in many different ways from press releases, to social media coverage, to mass media coverage, to Waterloo Schools shows which we create and post on our YouTube channel.

Keep sharing the great ideas!  You are all doing exceptional work preparing our students for college, career, and citizenship by offering them Limitless Choices.  Thank you for all you do!

Volunteers Needed for Middle School Metro Track Meet

runnerThe Waterloo Community Schools is hosting the middle school Metro Track Meet on Saturday, May 11, 2013, at Central (Memorial Stadium).  All six boys and girls track teams from the metro area will attend this event.  The meet starts at 8 a.m. and it runs until about 1:00 p.m.  (We would want volunteers to arrive at 7:30 a.m. and plan on staying till 2:00 p.m.)  We need volunteers to help move hurdles, reset high jump bars, rake the long jump pit, sort ribbons, and numerous other little jobs along the way.  We also could use volunteers to help sell tickets or work in the concession stand.  If you are interested in helping please contact Crystal Buzza at buzzac@waterlooschools.org.
